"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." -- Matthew 5:4 Death of a loved one is devasting whether it is expected or unexpected. The process of arranging the funeral is both taxing and draining. By the time the burial is over everyone is exhausted. No one wants to think about cooking a meal. That’s where the Bereavement committee comes in. All Saints provides a meal for parishioner’s families at a time when it is most needed. The church provides meat and drinks while parishioners provide side dishes and dessert. A bereavement meal is more than just food. It shows how much we cared about their loved ones and that they were a part of the All Saint’s church family, even if the parishioner has been ill and has not attended church recently - they are still parishioners. It is comforting and very much appreciated by the family and friends of the deceased. The committee needs your help. Death rarely happens at a convenient time. Quite often, the committee only has a couple of days’ notice of a bereavement meal. You can help by contacting the committee and join a list that could provide a side dish or dessert for a grieving family (even if you don't know the family) or perhaps volunteer to help in cleaning up after a meal. Please contact Kenny Harryman at 502-389-7114 or Mary Ann Woods at 502-494-2412 and let them you how you can help. Even if you might not be able to help every time, please consider contacting the committee to be placed on a call list for future bereavement meal opportunities. God bless! |
